Providence Health & Services Director Rehabilitation Services in Walla Walla, Washington


Providence is calling a Director Rehabilitation Services (Administration, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Medical Group Southeast Washington in Walla Walla, WA. Providence Medical Group Southeast Washington includes start of the art clinics and services that include therapy, health education classes, pharmacy, lab, nurse treatment centers and behavioral health. Our progressive approach to physical therapy includes branching out into the community, providing services at YMCA and an aquatic facility in which we care for student athletes and patients of all ages. We also embed our therapy services within our clinics to provide one-spot continuity of care.

As Director Rehabilitation Services, with the support of the rehabilitation practice managers, you will be responsible to lead the therapy disciplines of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language pathology as well as rehabilitation aides and support staff in order to serve patients rehabilitation needs throughout the continuum of care. You will be expected to explore new care delivery models to meet the goals of cost effective care while maximizing the patient experience and outcomes.

In this position you will:

  • Actively participate in departmental and organization performance improvement activities in accordance with hospital and joint commission standards.

  • Demonstrate leadership by performing his/her work in a manner that meets or exceeds the level of care and service that PSMMC promotes to the communities we serve.

  • Provide clear, concise, pertinent reports/information.

  • Provide PT, OT, Speech, and other clinical and non-clinical staffing for specialty programs and services. (e.g. Inpatient Services, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Outpatient Services, Aquatic, Cardiac Rehabilitation)

  • Establish, monitor, and manage service budgets.

  • Ensure program compliance meets all criteria for Joint Commission, CARF, and other accrediting bodies.

  • Plan, implement and monitor all departmental quality improvement activities to ensure appropriateness of service and high quality of care. Participating in quality improvement projects/continuous quality improvement studies.

  • Provide written and/or oral reports of the department projects or committee functions as required.

  • Participate in the overall strategic planning process for regional services.

  • Recommend, develop and implement new services/service opportunities to meet patient/client needs in a challenging health care environment. Review and establish service policies and procedures.

  • Ensure the department has the necessary equipment and supplies for the provision of services. Prepare maintenance capital equipment list for each fiscal year.

  • Collaborate with Departmental and Medical Directors to implement effective service strategies across the continuum of care.

  • Provide for an effective clinical education program by assuring quality supervision for therapy students.

  • Work closely with hospital and PMG directors/managers to develop and implement effective patient care pathways to integrate service line needs of patients throughout the continuum of care.

  • Respond to and communicate with a variety of physicians with individual styles, practices, treatment protocols and expectations.

  • Directly supervise rehabilitation practice managers and clerical supervisor.

  • Directly supervise specialty roles within the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility, Cardiac Rehabilitation and PMG Therapy Clinic.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Three years management experience.

  • Five years experience as a practicing clinician.

  • Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Therapist and language pathologist in the state of Washington.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in an accredited program within the discipline of OT, PT, or SLP.

  • One year experience in all areas of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services.
