Providence Laboratory Assistant I in Walla Walla, Washington
Providence is calling a Laboratory Assistant I (Clinical Laboratory Services, Variable Shift, 0.0 FTE) to Providence St Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Southeast Washington. In this position you will:
Consistently demonstrate adherence to Medicare and Medicaid regulations which directly or indirectly relate to the performance and job expectations
Employee demonstrate knowledge of PSMMC’s policy on Patients Rights and Responsibilities and respects these rights and responsibilities in carrying-out daily activities
Actively participate in departmental and organization performance improvement activities in accordance with hospital and joint commission standards
Perform his/her work in a manner that meets or exceeds the level of care and service that PSMMC promotes to the communities we serve
Participate in department specific practices to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff
Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information used in performance of his/her daily duties conforming to organizational policy, laws and regulations as appropriate
Utilize a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to ensure that specimen collection is completed at the appropriate time to meet clinical needs.
Perform limited analytic testing within the scope of the position.
Clean phlebotomy tray and other areas of the laboratory as needed.
Stock and clean the laboratory.
Assure that specimens are transported to the correct area in a timely and professional manner.
Provide information on testing procedures/ specimen collection as needed.
Ensure that all specimens arrive in the laboratory so is able to be processed in a timely manner, per lab policy.
Label blood and other specimens in the presence of the patient. Correctly completes blood bank ID band per laboratory procedure.
Utilize Rover specimen identification system during the collection process.
Adhere to NPSG standards using two patient identifiers when providing laboratory services
Required qualifications for this position include:
State of Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant Certified certification within 30 days of hire
Current BLS-Healthcare provider (AHA accredited) within 30 days of hire
Coursework/Training - Completion of a formal Phlebotomy Training Program
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Previous phlebotomy experience
ASCP certified phlebotomist
