Providence Health & Services Laboratory Client Services Representative in Walla Walla, Washington

Description:

Providence is calling a Laboratory Client Services Representative (Clinical Laboratory Services, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Consistently demonstrate adherence to the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments and Compliance Integrity Program and any other organization or departmental materials related to compliance with laws, regulatory requirements

  • Consistently demonstrate adherence to Medicare and Medicaid regulations which directly or indirectly relate to the performance and job expectations

  • Employee demonstrate knowledge of PSMMC’s policy on Patients Rights and Responsibilities and respects these rights and responsibilities in carrying-out daily activities

  • Actively participate in departmental and organization performance improvement activities in accordance with hospital and joint commission standards

  • Perform his/her work in a manner that meets or exceeds the level of care and service that PSMMC promotes to the communities we serve

  • Participate in hospital and department specific practices to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff

  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information used in performance of his/her daily duties conforming to hospital policy, laws and regulations as appropriate

  • Provide clear, concise, pertinent reports/information

  • Follow established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection

  • Maintain positive working relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment

  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff in a professional manner

  • Understand and comply with department Safety plan

  • Document all discrepancies and problems properly

  • Support laboratory quality assurance initiatives that are being monitored

  • Expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures

  • JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Managing phone calls; answer questions if able or transfer to appropriate person

  • Receive specimens from couriers

  • Notify Patient Access for account registration

  • Enter orders into Epic

  • Fax and scan reports, requisitions, and ABN’s into Epic

  • Maintain the fax Que in Epic (investigates the reason for a failed fax)

  • Prepare reference tests for transport

  • Troubleshoot reference specimen concerns (i.e. specimen quantity/quality, delayed shipment, delayed results, etc.)

  • Reject testing based on quality/quantity or timing of specimens; contact provider and input orders back into Epic

  • Prepare and manage correspondence, documents, and reports.

  • Help cover lunches in processing

  • Demonstrate a concern for efficiency and cost effectiveness

  • Keep leadership apprised of problems, workflow and other relevant issues

  • Willing to adapt personal work schedule to department needs

  • Follow through with assignments

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness in assigned tasks and duties

  • HUMAN RESOURCES:

  • Employee complete all tasks and duties accurately and timely within assigned shift. Demonstrates initiative to perform job duties autonomously

  • Attend mandatory and other education offerings per department and hospital requirements. May assist with education on the unit

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Completion of a phlebotomy course or 6 months previous lab experience or other clinical experience

  • State of Washington Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification or Medical Assistant Certified within 30 days of hire

  • Current BLS-Healthcare provider (AHA accredited) within 30 days of hire

  • Previous experience with computers

  • Able to maintain composure with frequent interruptions and stressful situations

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED

  • Customer Relations Management experience
