Providence is calling a Medical Staff Specialist Lead (Medical Staff Services, Days, 1.0 FTE) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. In this position you will:

Participate in hospital and department specific practices to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information used in performance of his/her daily duties conforming to hospital policy, laws and regulations as appropriate.
Follow established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection.
Maintain positive working relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment.
Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff in a professional manner.
Provide clear, concise, pertinent reports/information.
Fulfill all aspects of the initial credentialing, reappointment and privileging process independently, ensuring that applications for appointment and reappointment are managed in accordance with the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies.
Assist in the preparation of privilege requests and privilege changes for committee consideration.
Maintain physician QA files, requests clinical activity from hospital resources and data bank information, and other sources as needed in an organized manner.
Provide training and education on credentialing processes in accordance with organization and department standards.
Respond to Provider Affiliation Verification requests in a timely manner.
Coordinate and analyze application and summarizes file in preparation for submission to the department chairman and credentials committee chairman.
Coordinate with the Director of the Department to prepare for Joint Commission and other regulatory surveys.
Direct the work of the other medical staff team.
Serve as credentialing database manager to ensure standardization of data entry and enhance database capabilities.
Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the practitioner credentialing database.
Assist in coordination of peer review activities, including working with the Quality Analyst(s) and department chairs to facilitate Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE).
Working with appropriate medical staff leaders creates agendas for and provides accurate documentation for all medical staff and related meetings; drafts and edits minutes.
Ensure physician quality documentation is reviewed at the time of re-appointment.
Coordinate and develop orientation programs for new providers.
Prepare annual calendar and coordinates all medical staff meetings. Meeting Coordination: In conjunction with department/committee chairmen, develops department and committee meeting agendas, prepares and distributes packets and attends meetings. Obtains all presentations materials, documents and composes minutes of meetings and follows through with appropriate transactions and correspondence as directed by the Medical Staff. Archives all meeting materials and records in confidential manner consistent with organization/department standards.
Prepare and distributes physician’s emergency call roster.
Maintain a current roster of the Medical Staff and posts to the intranet site when changes are made.
Participate in medical, legal issues and medical staff hearings as directed by the CEO and legal counsel.
Participate in organization’s MSO Council meetings.
Coordinate planning of the annual Medical Staff meeting and other Medical Staff events as directed by the CEO.
Employee completes all tasks and duties accurately and timely within assigned shift. Demonstrates initiative to perform job duties autonomously.
Attend mandatory and other educational offerings per departmental and hospital requirements. May assist with education on the unit.
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).
Three (3) years experience in medical staff services to include credentialing, privileging reappointment processing and meeting coordination.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Associate's Degree or work experience may substitute for education.
