Providence is calling a Speech Pathologist (Dept, Shift, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Medical Group in Walla Walla, WA. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Consistently demonstrate adherence to the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments and Compliance Integrity Program and any other organization or departmental materials related to compliance with laws, regulatory requirements.

  • Consistently demonstrate adherence to Medicare and Medicaid regulations which directly or indirectly relate to the performance and job expectations.

  • Employee demonstrate knowledge of PSMMC’s policy on Patients Rights and Responsibilities and respects these rights and responsibilities in carrying-out daily activities.

  • Actively participate in departmental and organization performance improvement activities in accordance with hospital and joint commission standards.

  • Demonstrate leadership by performing his/her work in a manner that meets or exceeds the level of care and service that PSMMC promotes to the communities we serve.

  • Participate in hospital and department specific practices to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.

  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information used in performance of his/her daily duties conforming to hospital policy, laws and regulations as appropriate.

  • Follow established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection.

  • Maintain positive working relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff in a professional manner.

  • Provide clear, concise, pertinent reports/information.


  • Evaluate patient/client current speech language and pathology status and develops individualized, measurable and functional treatment goals and establishes interventions as appropriate to patient age, condition, diagnosis, response to treatment and learning needs.

  • Plan and implement a comprehensive and individualized speech therapy treatment plan. Modifies and progresses the program in response to changing patient/client needs. Instructs patient/client and caregivers to assist in achieving treatment goals.

  • Provide and maintain accurate, thorough, legible and timely patient related documentation, handwritten and/or computerized, in accordance with department policy and procedure.

  • Perform duties in compliance with departmental policies, procedures, timelines, and productivity standards.

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for patient panel, including timely access to services, appropriate billing practices and quality of patient outcomes.

  • Demonstrate professional behavior and pursues professional development.

  • Promote injury prevention: in-servicing employees, families/caregivers and community groups as appropriate, and identifying and reporting potential concerns.

  • Participate in department/service goal setting, QI activities, and Mission Practicum activities.

  • Assist in developing, implementing, coordinating and reviewing speech therapy policies and procedures, and recommend changes as appropriate.

  • Supervise Speech Therapy Aides and Speech Therapy students, volunteers and other observers as assigned by Manager/Lead.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager / Lead.



  • Master’s Degree in speech and language pathology or May accept individual in a clinical fellowship based upon interview and clinical experience as a student

  • Licensed to practice as a speech and language pathologist in the state of Washington or temporary license if new graduate awaiting licensing exam results

  • Oregon licensure may be required in the service area

  • Current BLS – Healthcare provider (must be AHA accredited)

  • ASHA certificate of clinical competence (CCC)

  • An ASHA clinical fellowship guideline applicable if individual is a clinical fellow

  • Medicare National Provider Identification Number (NPI) within 30 days of hire

  • Provider and Payer Credentialing


  • One (1) year specialized Speech therapy training or experience in pediatrics.
